Come experience one of the freshest, most talked about, and currently most produced American playwright’s rarer plays; one which is full of love, off-beat comedy, music, and, of course, a sweetly poignant, healthy serving of melancholy. Received directly from Palindrome Theatre:

A well-timed comedic love letter written on a rainy day, inspired by childhood, heartache, remembrance, isolation, first kisses, last kisses, and things that pass, like men's hats, voiced alongside original music, sung when speaking fails, and arriving at the speed of A CONTEMPORARY FARCE.
Tilly is lost in... a sea of Melancholy and loved by everyone she comes into contact with: her therapist, her tailor, her hairdresser, her hairdresser's nurse companion...All find something uniquely freeing in the melancholy she exudes and the music they hear when they're with her, but each also transforms entirely when faced with the possibility of actually succeeding in making her happy.
"Melancholy Play mixes the absurdity of Pirandello and Fellini with the edgy prettiness of Edna St. Vincent Millay. Off-beat, lyrical and just a little bit nutty, it is a real charmer." -Chicago Sun-Times
